The Saint Joseph Institute of Technology — Maritime Education and Training (SMET) conducted a three-day enhancement workshop on using the "Motor Control Electro Training Module" at the campus' Marine Engineering Laboratory.
Four engineers from the faculty and 15 selected students were given the privilege to take part in advanced training of the said module.
The workshop began Friday, on the 21st of February until the 23rd. It involved lectures, hands-on application and actual pieces of assessments that would enhance the students' comprehension and knowledge about the said aspects.
Engr. Emmanuel Se, the President of Electro-Technical Marine together with Mr. Rogelio Velarde, Owner of ROJVEL Enterprises, have shared their expertise that involved these subjects.
For the first day session, Engr. Se discussed and focused on electrical safety, test and measurements and procedures in using multitester, megger tester and clamp meter and familiarization on common control components and its symbols.
For each short lecture in every topic, various assessments and actual demonstrations were given by Engr. Se and Mr. Velarde to strengthen the retained knowledge of the said trainees.
"Everything that has been taught in your previous years must be retained in your minds because these are prerequisite subjects and are crucial. Put in mind that those principles must be learned not just for the sake of high grades but also for you to be well versed at," said Mr. Velarde before the session ended.
