Two Marlow Navigation personnel arrived at Saint Joseph Institute of Technology Maritime and Education Training (SMET) campus, on February 19, formally evaluating exactly 174 cadets for their Cadet Training Program.
Welcomed with courtesy salutes, Marlow Navigation was represented by Senior Crewing Manager Mr. Joemar Masacote along with Ms. Karizsa Salvador.
Mr. Masacote addressed his introduction of Marlow Navigation Training Program which, accordingly, focuses on providing the cadets with a good and dedicated career path to become proficient and competent professionals in attaining seafaring career. This was then followed by a briefing of the examination.
“As I always tell everyone, those who will pass or those who will not pass, they have to always concentrate and be on track. They have to remain motivated and always persevere,” he remarked.
The selection was participated by 120 deck cadets and 54 engine cadets which covers written exam set to be followed with oral examination on the next day.
“We are going to select a cadet from the school, they must be possessing the potential and qualities in a management level of officer, maybe not on that level but at least showing that potential; that is their main qualification,” stressed Mr. Masacote.
Since Teekay is one of the clients of the Marlow Navigation’s UMTC (United Maritime Training Center), he stated that the company introduced SMET to the UMTC as one of their upliftment of standard maritime education.
