Today we were planting some seeds but first we needed to water the soil because it was very dry when we tried to dig. We planted some garlic and carrot seeds and got some rosemary cuttings.

A big thank you to the wonderful team of parents who helped clean out the farm shed this week! Olivia, Yen, Jahan, Rajinder and Maria blitzed through the shed, sweeping, washing shelving and getting it ready to store our gardening tools.

Students from Prep Lauren did lots of watering today. The soil was really dry and was not ready for seeds to be planted. They also discovered lemons on the lemon tree! Exciting times!

Today we are making seats with hay. First we had to listen to Carol as she showed us the map of the garden. The map showed us where to put the bales of hay. We worked together in a group of 4. The other group of 4 was doing watering and digging. We had to dig deeper into the soil for the water.

Here it is! All of our measuring, imagining and designing has come together. Carol was able to include lots of our ideas, like the 'Tree-rific Gathering Space' and the 'Moustache Garden'.

If you think our final design looks a bit like the illustrations from the picture book 'Rivertime', it's because Trace Balla (the book's author/illustrator) was the one who taught Carol how to use watercolour pencils in this way.
