In middle school Spanish we follow a Spanish I curriculum to get ready to excel in high school and beyond. Below are some of the topics we will cover.

CURRICULUM
Sixth grade Spanish class is the beginning of our Spanish I middle school curriculum. During the three years of middle school, students will learn the vocabulary, grammar, reading and conversational skills necessary for a smooth transition into Spanish II in high school.
6th grade topics and activities:
*Culture: Spanish-speaking communities in the United States and Mexico
*Vocabulary: Greetings, describing people, activities during and after school, foods and meals
*Grammar: Regular verbs in the present tense, common irregular verbs such as tener, ser, estar
*Videos: Native speaker videos, stories, interviews, and pop music
*Projects: Writing projects related to the chapter vocab
*Novels: We read short novels in Spanish that are for the middle school beginner level. Students who speak Spanish at home will be given options according to their reading level.
