Highlights

  • 227 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported on 1 April, compared to 538 cases on 31 March. 8 additional deaths reported on 1 April, and 10 on 31 March.
  • Out of 2,311 confirmed cases, 55% are reported from the National Capital Region (NCR), 62% are male, and the most affected age group is 60-69 years (23.9%)
  • Out of the 96 confirmed deaths, 66% are reported from NCR, 73% are male, and the most affected age group 70-79 (29.5%), with the highest fatality among people over 80 - Increase in the number of cases result of increased testing capacity, with currently 6 laboratories testing approximately 1,000 tests per day. Ongoing assessment to increase the number of laboratories throughout the country - An increasing number of health facilities are reporting a shortage of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), as well as ventilators for treatment of severe cases and media for the transport of laboratory samples - Online IPC training kicked off for private and public hospitals to address rational use of PPE amongst other - Humanitarian partners and private sector supporting increasing needs of vulnerable populations as a result of imposed restrictions - Stay at home remains key message to minimize further spread of disease. The focus is on self-quarantine for those with mild symptoms to decrease stress on hospitals.
  • The Department of Health (DOH) continuing to focus on ensuring the continuation of health services within the current restrictions, particularly for vulnerable and high-risk groups including elderly, People With a Disability (PWD), and people living with HIV, TB, and other chronic diseases
