The kidnapping of Aldo Moro (Italian: Rapimento di Aldo Moro) was a seminal event in Italian political history.
On the morning of 16 March 1978, the day on which the new cabinet led by Giulio Andreotti was supposed to have undergone a confidence vote in the Italian Parliament, the car of Aldo Moro, former prime minister and then president of Christian Democracy (Italian: Democrazia Cristiana, or DC, Italy’s relative majority party at the time), was assaulted by a group of Red Brigades (Italian: Brigate Rosse, or BR) terrorists in Via Fani in Rome. Firing automatic weapons, the terrorists killed Moro’s bodyguards, (two Carabinieri in Moro’s car and three policemen in the following car) and kidnapped him.
On 9 May 1978 Moro’s body was found in the trunk of a Renault 4 in Via Caetani after 55 days of imprisonment, during which Moro was submitted to a political trial by the so-called “people’s court” set up by the Brigate Rosse and the Italian government was asked for an exchange of prisoners. Despite the common interpretation, the car location in Via Caetani was not halfway between the locations of the national offices of DC and of the Italian Communist Party (PCI) in Rome.[1]

Three civilians and a police officer were killed Wednesday in a “shooting incident” in northern Wisconsin, Everest Metropolitan Police Chief Wally Sparks said.
Police said the shootings occurred at three locations in the Wausau area.
The officer, from the Everest Metropolitan Police Department in Schofield, was killed in the line of duty, Sparks said. The name of the officer was not released.
“This was one suspect, at this point in time. He has been taken into custody,” Sparks said at a media briefing where he did not take questions.
Sparks did not provide a possible motive for the shooting, and said the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigations is handling the investigation. Jason Smith of the DCI said the investigation is complex.
It is not clear precisely where the four fatalities occurred.
CNN affiliates WJFW, WAOW and WSAW reported the shootings took place at a bank in Rothschild, a law office in Schofield and an apartment in Weston.
67-year-old Dianne Look and 62-year-old Karen Barclay died after they were shot at the bank.

40-year-old Jason Weiland, a detective and 15-year veteran of the Everest Metro Police Department was also killed by the suspect in this case.
WESTON — Officials with the Wisconsin Department of Justice said Thursday, March 23rd a 45-year-old Weston man is in police custody at the hospital after a series of shooting incidents Wednesday near Wausau. A police officer and three others — two bank employees and an attorney were killed.
DOJ officials said in a statement the shootings were motivated by a domestic incident involving the suspect’s wife, who wasn’t hurt. The suspect’s name has not been released at this point. DOJ officials said Thursday they would do so “in the near future.”
According to the DOJ, this all began around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, when a report came in regarding an active shooter at Marathon Savings Bank in Rothschild.

Snow’s position can be summed up by an often-repeated part of the essay:
A good many times I have been present at gatherings of people who, by the standards of the traditional culture, are thought highly educated and who have with considerable gusto been expressing their incredulity at the illiteracy of scientists. Once or twice I have been provoked and have asked the company how many of them could describe the Second Law of Thermodynamics. The response was cold: it was also negative. Yet I was asking something which is the scientific equivalent of: Have you read a work of Shakespeare’s?[5]
I now believe that if I had asked an even simpler question — such as, What do you mean by mass, or acceleration, which is the scientific equivalent of saying, Can you read? — not more than one in ten of the highly educated would have felt that I was speaking the same language. So the great edifice of modern physics goes up, and the majority of the cleverest people in the western world have about as much insight into it as their neolithic ancestors would have had.[5]
