This site is dedicated to the airmen that fought in the airspace over or near the islands of Voorne-Putten and Rozenburg in the Netherlands during WW2, of whom many lost their lives.

It aims to keep their memory alive and intends give a detailed overview of all airplane crashes between May 1940 and May 1945 in this area. It tries to document all of these crashes in detail.

The islands Voorne-Putten and Rozenburg are located at the North-sea coast to the west and south-west of the city of Rotterdam in the Netherlands. In the first years of the war it was on the route from the UK to the german cities in the Rhur area and as a result saw quite some activity in the airspace above the islands. The harbor of Rotterdam also attrackted a lot of allied interest. In the later years of the war the routes of the allied bomber force were changed to avoid heavily defended area´s and cities.

Above the route used by the bomber force on june 11th./12th. 1943. The route uses the "Dutch corridor", a gap in german FLAK defenses over the Dutch islands that had fewer Flak then most other coastal area's. The route is just south of Voorne-Putten. The return route also used a gap in Flak defences (see the Flak chart on the left of the page)

Many people from around the globe contributed to this site and are still contributing to it today. The stories on this site are still quite incomplete due to the destruction of many local archives by the germans at the end of the war. As a result much of the information has to be retrieved from many different source, both German and Allied.
