The Sound System.
In this video we cover a lot of the adjustments you can make to setup your sound system
Most PC/Laptop motherboards have a built in sound chip. With the correct drivers you should have 5.1 output + mic input.
You will also find SPDIF (coax and Optical)
Pulse-code modulation (PCM)
These signals are delivered to an amplifier using Coax or fibe-optic cable
When you connect your device via an HDMI cable or Display Port this becomes another sound sub-system. Both those cable types carry sound channels.
Windows 10 gives you the ability to choose where to send your sound.
You can also tell the OS what your AV or TV supports. A test facility exists.
My Digital receiver SONY STR-DN860 supports rates up to 192.0 Khz.
My monitor connected via Display Port cable is available to play sound but I choose to go via SPDIF to my SONY STR-DN860
For HDMI connector you will need to select the device that it is connected to, for example on my system it is the Monitor via HDMI.
Both Netflix and PowerDVD can see SPDIF and HDMI sound options.
