Crotal Bells

GaryD's Mucky Fingers

The word bell comes from the Anglo-Saxon word Bellan, meaning "to roar" or "to bellow."

15th and 16th century Crotal Bell.

There's something about digging up an old bell that's covered in mud. Cleaning it up and giving it a good ring knowing you're the first person to hear it for centuries Someone told me, that in the 15th and 16th century these bells were hung on Goats and sheep to keep evil spirits away ???
