Letter to Parents
Dear Parent or Guardian,
My name is Wendy Wira and I am excited to be your child's teacher for the upcoming year.
My students can expect me to always be prepared, to respect them, and to do what it takes for them to learn. Students are always encouraged to ask for extra help or a different explanation of something that they do not understand. I will make time to be available to them during lunch and before or after school, by appointment.
In return, I ask that my students be respectful, attentive, and ready to learn when they are in my classroom. I expect them to come to class prepared, having completed the previous day's assignment, and with the proper materials (paper, pen/pencil).
I will not overload your child with homework, but I will assign homework when students need to reinforce skills that were not completed satisfactorily in class. I will always explain the material prior to asking students to complete a task and I will never tell your child to "go home, read the book, and learn this." I do not expect your child to learn solely from a textbook, but rather to use the book to review what we have learned in class.
I strive to always conduct my classes in an interactive, engaging way, so your child can expect to be an active participant in his or her learning. I do not expect my students to passively sit and listen to lectures. I expect students to engage with the material and ask questions.
If you have questions regarding this class or your child's performance, please feel free to email me at wwira @ sandi.net. I will always try to respond to your email within 24 hours. You can expect me to call you or send notes home with your child for positive and negative behaviors and accomplishments.
Sincerely,
Wendy Wira
