The above folder includes everything you need to complete your course selection.
In the folder you will find (in the order that it appears in the folder):

PLEASE NOTE!
You may notice that some courses in your previous years may not be correct or is missing. Please DO NOT WORRY about it. Continue with your course selection. You will be able to SUBMIT as of Tuesday, Feb. 16th and your course selection is DUE on Wednesday, Feb. 24th.
Course Selection Timeline
Begin SELECTING courses in myBlueprint: Wednesday, January 20, 2021
Begin SUBMITTING your courses in myBlueprint: Tuesday, February 16, 2021
DEADLINE to SUBMIT: Wednesday, February 24, 2021
Course Verification Distributed: Week of March 15, 2021
Course Verification: DUE to Guidance: T.B.A
Please note that your verification form is NOT YOUR TIMETABLE. The verification form is just a list of the courses you selected for next year. There are no guarantees that you will get all the courses that you requested. All verification forms must be returned with a parent/guardian signature with or without changes.

Pre-recorded ZOOM Course Selection ROLL OUT Information
Thursday, January 14 and Friday, January 15
All Block 1 / Period 5 teachers have been instructed to allot class time for the viewing of Course Selection Information Video. There is a information video for each grade which was pre-recorded by the Guidance Team. If you are in grade 11 or 12 and DO NOT HAVE A PERIOD 5 class then you will need to watch the appropriate “how to select your courses” video. They are in the Google folder.

How to register and participate in a ZOOM workshop
1. Send an email to cindy.pearlstein@yrdsb.ca with the following information:
In the Subject Line: Drop in Session for Course Selection - Sign up
In the email: Your First Name, Last Name, Current Grade
2. The sessions will have a limited number of spots. If a sessions fill up, we will add more dates.
3. The link to your session will be sent to your GAPPS account the day before the session
4. Cameras must be working and turned on to participate. You will be removed from the session if your camera is not on.
Individual ZOOM appointment with your Counsellor:
Counsellors will be available starting the week of February 16th for zoom appointments. Sorry, not before.
Reach out to your ALFA counsellor to schedule a zoom appointment.
It does not matter if you meet with a Counsellor AFTER the course selection due date. Your counsellor can make changes to your selection at any time.
Students must be present at the zoom meeting if scheduled by a family member.

What to Consider when Verifying
Check your course selection carefully
- Did you pick the courses you intended to pick?
- Did you pick enough courses..
Students going into Gr. 9
- Students must select eight courses
- Six of the courses are compulsory and two are electives
- You will also have to select one alternative course
Students going into Gr. 10
- Students must select eight courses
- Five of the courses are compulsory (Careers and Civics count as one course) and three are electives.
- Students may select a grade 9 course if the course is required for graduation
- You will also have to select one alternative course
- Students may only select courses in grade 10
- Grade 11 courses may not be selected at this time
- Students may request a grade 11 course in September when they get their timetable
- Priority for grade 11 courses will be given to grade 11 students
Students going into Gr. 11
- Students must select eight courses
- Two of the courses are compulsory and six are electives
- Student may drop a course to take a spare but not until the semester starts
- Students may request a spare when they receive their timetable in September
- Spares may not be requested at the time of course selection
- Students may select a grade 10 course if the course is required for graduation
- You will also have to select one alternative course
- Students may only select courses in grade 11
- Courses in grade 12 may not be selected at this time
- Students may request a grade 12 course in September when they get their timetable.
- Priority for grade 12 courses will be given to grade 12 students
Students going into Gr. 12
- Students must select a minimum of six courses
- Students must be full-time, 3 courses in each semester
- Students may select a maximum of two spares at the time of course selection, one in each semester
Returning Gr. 12 Students
- Students returning for a full year must select a minimum of six courses
- Students returning for only one semester must select a minimum of three courses
Gr. 12 Students who plan to GRADUATE
- Log into myPathway planner and indicate you will be graduating.
- Follow the instruction provided to indicate "Not Returning"
Make Corrections
- cross out the course you do not want and write in the course code of the course you do want.
No Corrections
- put a check mark next to each course and sign-off as OKAY
Sign and Drop Off
- Have your parent/guardian sign the form and drop the form off in the guidance office by the date indicated on the form. All forms must be returned with a parent/guardian signature, with or without changes
