Anecdotes:- William SHAW was a Checkweighman at Usworth Colliery and a Delegate for the Lodge to the Durham Miners Association. He loved to jig and dance and sing Irish songs
Legend has it that he danced jigs on the table in the Waiting Room at Penshaw Railway Station while waiting for the train back to Usworth. There was no bus service then.
