anecdotes:-

Hannah Isabella HUSBAND was born in Usworth Colliery and was a barmaid at the Bird Inn in Washington when married. Matthew died in Washington in 1912. Hannah was left a widow with a small family. She took in theatricals from the Alexandra Theatre (later the Regal Cinema), hence the daughters became interested in the Stage. Mary and Belle were travelling professional chorus girls.
