About The Team
The Washburn Nordic Ski Team is for students from 7th to 12th grade with all skill and ability levels welcome to join. Theodore Wirth is the home of the Minneapolis Conference and that is where the majority of our races and practices take place. A ski pass is required at Wirth which will be purchased for each skier through the athletic department. We also practice at Hyland and that requires a separate ski pass through Three Rivers, this pass will allow you to ski at any of the other Three Rivers locations as well. Look for more information at the beginning of the season about purchasing these passes at a discount through the team. In general buses will be provided to transport the team to and from practices and meets.

It is important that everyone be at every practice. Beginners need as much time as possible skiing as it takes generally 1-2 full seasons to fully grasp all the different techniques. Returning varsity, JV and novice skiers will use practices to improve their technique and endurance, this process takes time. Additionally, practices for varsity skiers are designed to have them peak at the end of the season and missing practices hurts their progress. Please see the Attendance page for more information about our attendance policy.
