About the Game
Game jam game given the theme "teleportation" and 5 days to make an original game. I asked my friends what type of game would "George Wang the Game" be like. So "The Burdens of George Wang" is a game about how George Wang must avoid cops inside a building while blowing up poor furniture. Almost everything made in the game came completely from me using Gamemaker Studio. The main soundtrack was by Wesley Wu shoutout to his youtube channel.
What went right
Game maker was a little bit of a fumble on how easy it was to do everything, but it was super fast to implement sprite sheets, game objects, tiles etc. Iteration was extremely fast and I could focus on a well crafted experience even if it was only one level. I purposely limited myself to make only one level because I wanted that one level to be the best it could be.
What went wrong
My greatest ideas come after the 5 days are over. My greatest regret is not putting in a katana into the game. I followed the presentation of Vlambeer's "The Art of Screenshake" youtube video, but I could never think of what else my game needed. Also given more time I could've finished and polished the features that were added last.
