Waikiki is vulnerable to natural hazards due to its coastal location and the high concentration of economic assets. The NDPTC conducted social, economic, and physical vulnerability assessments for Waikiki. Hazards that were considered for this assessment are: tsunami, hurricane storm surge, riverine flooding, and sea level rise. Using Geographic Information Systems and basic statistical analysis, vulnerabilities were calculated and mapped to show the variation of vulnerability across the district.
