Congratulations to Von Stars, Stacy Lam & Angelica Galvan who did a wonderful job representing Von Steuben and CPS at the IJAS State Science Fair which took place May 1st - May 2nd at SIU in Carbondale, IL.
- Angelica placed Gold in the Paper Session with her project "The Structural Integrity of Platonic Solids."
- Stacy placed Silver in the Poster Session with her project "Go Green, Go Friendly, Go Biodiesel."
Angelica was thrilled as well to be able to visit Buckminster "Bucky" Fuller's personal dome residence located in Carbondale. Bucky's work inspired Angelica's science project because she loved the shape of his dome. Angelica said "The geodesic dome is my definition of perfection because it's so beautiful. Dymaxion is a word that Bucky used to describe his dome. It's a combination of DYnamic, MAXimum, and tensION. The perfect structure. The
geo-dome is what sparked my passion for building Platonic solids, bridges, robots, etc..."
