Teaching the Diverse Classroom was a 3rd year subject designed to equip pre-service teachers with the necessary skills of promoting a positive learning environment and behavioral management strategies.
Attached is a handbook I created on promoting positive learning environments in the classroom. It includes preventative, supportive and corrective actions and strategies. The handbook draws on different behavioural management strategies that either prevent or manage misbehaviour in the classroom such as Kounin's Five main points and Fred Jones' Positive Discipline Model.
As part of the course, we were given the opportunity to deliver 3, 10 minute lessons. My peers simulated students within a classroom during lessons.
I used feedback on delivery, use of praise whiteboard work, concrete and abstract concepts to improve and develop my teaching practices.
