LMSs are comprehensive online systems that use a variety of digital technologies to connect the relationships between students, teachers and parents. In this assignment, we were tasked with researching the differences between a range of LMSs and ranking them in order of our preference. After extensive research, I decided that Canva would be my highest ranked LMS followed by OneNote, Moodle, Edmodo and D2L.
In this assignment, I researched the advantages and disadvantages of gamification in learning. I applied this learning theory within my own classroom such as the Body Systems Board Game. A state of optimal learning can be achieved if there is a balance between challenge and skill when using gamification in a classroom setting. If this balance is reached, students can be effectively engaged.
We were tasked with revamping a bad PowerPoint presentation called Education and Work. For the presentation, I applied the 5 principles of high quality presentations which are DIY, speak vs. show, spontaneity, interactivity and professionalism to improve the presentation.
Digital feedback can also be a useful tool as it provides students feedback in a different way. In this assignment we were tasked with providing feedback using a digital medium. I used the digital medium called Explain Everything which simultaneously records your screen and your voice. As I have a touch-screen computer, I could write on the page as I gave feedback verbally. With feedback, I always try to point out the positive aspects first and then go into areas where students can improve. I tried to keep a positive and uplifting tone when giving feedback.
