John L. Newberg

January 18, 1948 - May 7, 2004


John L. Newberg was born January 18, 1948, in Clarinda, Iowa, to Cecil and Dorothy Sprague Newberg. He died Friday, May 7, 2004, at his home in Fulton, Illinois.

He was a 1966 graduate of Villisca High School. He married Vickie Buckneberg on August 18, 1968, in Villisca.

He was employed with Fullerton Building Center from June 1966 until he retired as store manager in February 2003. He was a member of First Congregational Church in Clinton, Iowa.

His survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Molly (Bernie) Zajicek of Clinton, Iowa; one son, Matt Newberg of Fernandina Beach, Florida; two granddaughters; and two sisters, Janice Newberg of Villisca and Mrs. Linda (Tom) Nisely of Glenwood. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife who died January 13, 2001. The family requests that memorials be made to the family to be distributed to various charities.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at First Congregational Church in Clinton, with the Rev. Laura Renault officiating. Burial was in the Fulton Township Cemetery. Visitation was from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at the Clinton Chapel of Snell-Zornig-Dennis A. Lemke Funeral Homes and Crematory. Pallbearers were Curt Smith, Denny Countryman, Jim Fish, Dick Kline, Gayle Heard and Howard Neese.
