Robert Gene Gard (Gene)

March 3, 1946 - June 6, 1964


Robert Gene Gard (Gene), son of Glen and Bessie Marie Sleeth Gard, was born at Quitman Corner, Missouri on March 3, 1946. He died from injuries received in an automobile accident June 6, 1964, at the age of eighteen. As a child, he moved with his parents to Iowa and lived at various times in the Villisca and Stanton communities. He attended the public schools at both Villisca and Stanton, and he transferred to the Red Oak Community school system on April 6, 1964. While the family lived in Stanton, he also attended Sunday School and Worship Services at the Mamrelund Lutheran Church at Stanton. He was baptized in that church on March 7, 1957.

He was survived by his parents, two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Neely of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, and Mrs. Lucille Pierson of Neola, Iowa, four brothers, Herb Gard of Sioux City, Iowa, Ralph Gard of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Leo Gard and Paul Ray Gard, both living with their parents, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 1964, at Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Stanton, Iowa. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak, Iowa.
