This week brought us one step closer to our exciting trip into Venice Italy. With the date approaching quickly, our team decided to take an active approach and order necessary supplies for the trip in order to have sufficient time to properly test all aspects of our project to ensure success. Our purchases were Nalgene bottles with the mouth wide enough to fit a standard smart phone, a waterproofing bag, wood, tape and spray paint. Testing began last week, but in our efforts to improve the quality of our work and ensure accuracy, our team wants to further our tests to bring the best ones to Italy. This week we prototyped a measuring stick that will be placed on the exterior walls of the canals and the device we will use to float in the water. In the upcoming week, we plan to put the devices through thorough tests to know they will be a success in the canals and ensure the best designs are replicated for actual use. These two devices will contribute to our overall goal of proposing a plan for simultaneous measurements of the canals. On top of that, our team continues to do research and write our project report. Our group is making great progress in both areas of prep before our trip. We are getting very excited to travel and to experience the interesting cultural differences Venice Italy has to offer.
