Kulo Style Wing Chun took a different path after Dr. Leung's retirement in Kulo village in He Shan Guangzhou. There, he further developed the style and created different variations. The 22 Essential Movement (Sansau) Setwas taught to his sons and a selected few close disciples. This Kulo system style further evolved through the toughest part of Southern China, where being able to defend oneself is a matter of life and death.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Do I need prior martial arts experience or a high fitness level to join? A: Not at all! Beginners are always welcome, and absolutely no prior experience is required. Our instructors will guide you step-by-step, whether you are learning basic movements, self-defense, or internal energy techniques. You can learn at your own pace.
Q: Can I try a class before paying for a membership? A: Yes! We offer a free trial session for all new members. Just drop by any of our regular weekly classes to see which style suits you best. You can also join our free one-off Stress Release Workshop (Yi Jin Jing) on Friday, August 7!
Q: I am not a UTS student. Can I still join the club? A: Absolutely. The UTS Kung Fu Club is open to UTS students, staff, and the general public.
UTS Students: Pay a $10 annual club fee, and regular classes are completely free.
Non-Students/Public: Pay a $30 annual club fee, plus $70 per semester (or $20 per drop-in session) for regular classes.
Q: What should I wear to my first class? A: Wear comfortable activewear (like a t-shirt and track pants or shorts) that allows you to stretch and move freely. Please bring clean, flat-soled indoor sneakers. No specialized uniforms or equipment are required to get started.
Q: For the Friday Night classes, do I have to commit to just Wing Chun or Bagua Zhang? A: Nope! While the class splits into two paths at 6:30 PM, you are not locked into one style forever. We encourage beginners to try both Kulo Wing Chun and Bagua Zhang to see which one aligns best with their goals and body mechanics.
Q: How do I officially register after my free trial? A: You can sign up through our ActivateUTS page: ActivateUTS Kung Fu Club. Once registered, just shoot us an email at utsjingwu@gmail.com so we can add you to our active roster!
Q: Do I need to book my free trial in advance? A: While drop-ins are always welcome, we highly recommend sending a quick email to utsjingwu@gmail.com to let us know you are coming so our instructors can prepare to welcome you! (Note: RSVP is required for the August 7 Stress Release Workshop as space is limited).
