NOVEMBER 3 will be our next F2F meeting at Calvin Hall Room 209
October 6: Choose ONE Teaching Tolerance Article & post reflection on google site –include brief summary, questions brought to mind through reading, and any AHAs that are new concepts, issues, awareness to you (I highly recommend taking the Project Implicit Test!)
October 13: ESL Teacher/Special Education Teacher OR Bilingual Teacher Interview (see APPENDIX D) Post reflection on qoogle website

September 22: Community Observation (see APPENDIX E)–post on google website. Become familiar with a community place, location, organization, familiar or unfamiliar to you. The format for recording your observations will be either video or still photography and presented in a delivery format of your choice. Reflect on what you believe community to be tell the story of this community from your perspective, seek to imagine and reflect on other points of view as well. Refer to APPENDIX E for guidance.
ALSO......
Begin to prepare your own roots project. What will you look closely at in your own family: history, stories, genealogy, etc. This engagement is solely for you to explore/research something that you want to know more about or take time to delve into about your own family. This is meant for you which will be shared with your classmates the final day of class. As teachers, it will become a ritual to share about yourself, who you are, where you come from, your roots, as your students share about themselves. This opportunity is an invitation for you to begin this introspective look at you and your roots. Remember everything starts from the center and moves outward. You cannot know you students without properly introducing yourself and caring about from whence you came. Sharing stories about you is a way to bond with your students.
September 29: Respond to Storytelling as Content & Context for Teaching Explain your thoughts about the importance of storytelling and learning. How did you connect to one of the oral history coaches in the article? How do you see yourself using storytelling in your own future classroom? Post reflection on your google website under Article Reading
