I'm sure a lot of you are planning on traveling to cities and countries outside of Milan and Italy. Milan is an ideal city for traveling because there are a few different international airports that connect almost anywhere in Europe. Pack light because you'll probably buy stuff wherever you go and will need the space. To find the cheapest flights I recommend using http://www.skyscanner.com . I also recommend getting a little comfortable with where you are going before you go. I would get a public transportation map and plan how to get to your hostel or wherever you are staying before you leave. Research where you want to go. You can get recommendations from friends, there's always the obvious places (ex. Eiffel Tower, Coliseum, etc.) or you can research on your own or online. My favorite site is http://www.planetware.com. Always try and budget your time if you want to get everything done. I would generally leave 2-3 hours before your flight. I budgeted 300 euros for everything (hostels, food, buses, souvenirs, etc.). Make sure you are always aware of your surroundings and keep your wallet and passport in a safe secure place so they can not be easily stolen.
Recommendation: If you plan on traveling a lot, I recommend trying to get at least Fridays off of class, if not Monday as well. I had Monday and Friday off school so I could get the most out of traveling.
