Pickpockets
Be aware of pickpockets. The trams get very crowded and are prime for theft. Whenever someone bumps into you or is up against you, always check to make sure you have all your processions. Keep everything in front of you, and try not keep your valuables in your backpack. I always found a side of the tram to lean against so there was no way of getting to my backpack. My one strong piece of advice is just be aware of your surroundings and don't fall into a false sense of security. I've heard children will also swarm you because you are a foreigner and try and steal your stuff. I've also heard people will throw a baby (real or fake) at you to distract you (all is hearsay). Don't go into dark areas at night that you are not comfortable with and try and stay with a friend.
Clubs
Do the basics you learned as a child. Don't leave your drinks or bags unattended.
Residences
Always lock your doors. Don't leave stuff lying around. Get a Laptop Lock. You'll notice that at Bocconi and many of the apartment buildings, there are bars, locks and metal screens on the upper floors, so they take security very seriously.
