The Intensive Language Program is required by the University of California schools in order to go to Bocconi. You have to register for the class, most of which is taken care of by the UCs. You may take a placement test in order to determine if you enter Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate or Post Intermediate/Advanced. Generally most students don't even take the test and enter into beginner. The course lasts for 2.5 weeks and is anywhere from 4-6 hours a day, and might include a Saturday.
The class is pretty tough to fail. You are required to attend 75% of the classes and pass the Final. There is minimal homework except the final where you do have to study. There is a required text book you have to buy. As long as you make an effort, you'll pass. A lot of the time, people were half paying attention or hungover or sleeping. Yes, it's rude, but it was done and the professors all kind of understand.
