UKRAINIAN-SLOVAK CENTRE OF CROSS-BORDER COOPERATION «CARPATHIA»

One of the conditions to ensure effective crossborderand interregional cooperation in the border regions of Ukraine and Slovakia is the presence of a proper institutional platform. In accordance to the requirements of the border regions in providing systemic approach to the development of Ukrainian-Slovak cooperation a newly established organization started its activity in 2009 in Zakarpattya region – “Ukrainian – Slovak Center of crossborder cooperation “Carpathia”.

The decision on the necessity to create a new organization was made and officially announced on the Ukrainian-Slovak Intergovernmental sitting in the year 2004.

The leadership of the “Ukrainian-Slovak Centre of cross-border cooperation “Carpathia”, taking to account the situation and strategic view of development of the Carpathian region stated in the “Cross-border cooperation strategy “Carpathia 2004-2011”, Ukraine’s Law “On crossborder cooperation”, in further activities will be managed by the importance of cross-border cooperation development of Ukraine in accordance with the European requirements that are stipulated by succession of objective causes with influences on the development of border regions of Ukraine, in particular Ukraine and Slovakia. At ones with Ukrainian and Slovak partner organizations, the given analysis creates grounds for the leadership of the “Ukrainian-Slovak Centre of cross-border cooperation “Carpathia”, to aim its activity to overcome the main development barriers of Ukrainian-Slovak cross-border cooperation and to make effective decision concerning the methods of cooperation extension.
