Data Compression

With Tim Cobler and Scott Roby

Have you ever 'zipped' up a file on your computer? Or listened to a .mp3 file? If so, then you have taken advantage of data compression methods! Data compression is a tool used in electrical engineering and computer science to reduce the size of a computer file so that it will take less room to store and/or make it transmit in less time. This project will explore the mathematical theory behind data compression.
