Catalan Numbers

With Matt Lee and Matt O'Dell

The Catalan numbers are a special sequence of numbers that are used in Combinatorics to solve counting problems. Their applications range from counting noncrossing partitions, as seen in the picture, to dissecting an n-dimensional cone. Through this project you will see different, but equivalent, ways to define the Catalan numbers, examples of how to apply them, and gain research experience under the guidance of graduate students and professors. This project will be accessible to undergraduate students of all levels
