Technology --The practical application of knowledge especially in a particular area, while using various resources, techniques, crafts, systems and/or methods of organization in order to solve a problem or perform a specific task or function.
Engineering --is the application of mathematics, empirical evidence and scientific, economic, social, and practical knowledge in order to invent, design, build, maintain, research, and improve structures, machines, tools, systems, components, materials, and processes.
These concentrations will explored in school developed and current locations.
“Makerspaces, also known as innovation space, tinkerlab, or creation space, function as centers for peer learning and knowledge sharing, in the form of workshops, presentations, and lectures. They typically provide space for members to work on their individual projects, or to collaborate on group projects with other members” . The Tuxedo STEM Academy has space for separate makerspaces within the building. Each makerspace will be suited around a particular theme or need such as a tooling makerspace for electronics and material building, another makerspace for design, drawing, and digital art, a third for CAD design, engineering, and 3D printing.
Therefore, the Tuxedo STEM Academy has developed a program that will best suit the needs of the students, infusing the tools and skills necessary to survive in a digital society. Our objectives include the incorporation of:
· Digital Literacy
· Technological Literacy
· Collaboration
· Project-based Learning
· Engineering Literacy
· Hands-on Applications
· Demonstration of knowledge and skills
