July 2021 Iceland
Two Vigorous Hikers, Bob and Rick, and two adjunct Vigorous Hikers, Bob's daughters Michelle and Morgan, spent up to 3 weeks in spectacular Iceland. In the first week all four backpacked southward from the high interior to the South Coast on the famous Laugavegur and Skogar Trails. Over the next week, three of the group (Morgan could only stay for the first) rented a campervan, climbed two mountains, including Iceland's 4th highest, backpacked the two-day Jokulsahrlaup from Selfoss to the North Coast, hunted whales, soaked in thermal baths twice, drove counterclockwise around the entire Ring Road, and watched a volcano erupting. At the same time Rick had to return home, Bob and Michelle were joined by the grandkids and kids respectively for another five days of fun and touring of this amazing "island of ice and fire."
Pictures by everybody, including a few by new friend Pat - Bob produced the report.
