Hikes Schedule
NOTE: Additional information and details on each hike will be emailed to those on the group list 2 to 4 days before each hike. After it is emailed to the list it will be the top message at http://groups.google.com/group/Vigorous-Hikers.
Anyone is welcome to signup for the weekly emails. These hikes and many more for everyone are listed on the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club [PATC] Calendar of Activities. Sierra Club's Potomac Region Outings [PRO], https://www.sierraclub.org/virginia/potomac-region-outings , also lists many interesting hikes open to everyone.
Tuesday December 2, 2025 - Buzzard Rock (PATC Map G). Starting at the Buzzard Rock trailhead on Route 619 (Mountain Road), we will take the Buzzard Rock Trail to Shawl Gap, continue straight on the Massanutten Trail, turn right on the Sherman Gap Trail, then right on the Botts Trail to the Elizabeth Furnace picnic area for lunch. After lunch, we will return to Shawl Gap via the Tuscarora Trail, and take the Buzzard Rock trail back to the trailhead. About 16 miles with 3000 feet of elevation gain.

Tuesday December 9, 2025 - Appalachian Trail, Rt. 55 South & back. AT starting from parking area on Rte. 55. We will go south to Bear Hoow/RT 522 and then go back to our starting point. About 16 miles, with 3400 feet of elevation gain.

Tuesday December 16, 2025 - At South from Front Royal Around & Back – We will hike the Appalachian Trail South from 4H parking lot in Front Royal over Compton Peak to Jenkins Gap; take Jenkins Gap Trail to Route 634; right onto Route 622 to Lands Run Gap Road up to Skyline Drive then turn slight right onto the Dickey Ridge Trail to a left on Springhouse Trail, then left on AT heading North back to the cars. Approximately 19 miles/4200 feet elevation.

Tuesday December 23, 2025 - Loch Raven Reservoir - Glen Ellen (South) area, start from intersection of Seminary Road/Dulaney Valley Road.
