July/August 2024 Norway Classics
Vigorous Hiker Steve and TVH Alum Bob spent 20 unrushed days exploring central Norway's extensive and wonderful mountain and wilderness landscapes. During their almost 3-week stay, they completed two classic day hikes, Trolltunga (Troll's Tongue) and Romsdalseggen Ridge, and two classic, multi-day treks, the Classic Jotunheimen Loop (7 days) and the Trollheimen Trekanten (Triangle, 3 days). In between, at bases near Odda and Andalsnes and on a day trip to the port of Alesund, they experienced other natural, historical and cultural highlights that the region offered.
Because of planned flexibility, all of the 11 days of hiking and trekking avoided steady rain (inevitable in summertime Norway). Also, they were all challenging, either because of mileage, difficult trail or both, and several were downright hard. But, obvious in this album, all of them traversed postcard mountain scenery! Lastly, all of the full-service refuges used on the treks were outstanding, unlike in the Alps where they can range from exceptional to spartan.
