Oliver's Travels

ANNOUNCEMENT TO TSUNG TSIN MEMBERS BY OLIVER LEE

Dear Tsung Tsin members:

After several years of research and writing, my memoir, covering from birth until 1970, has just been published. The title is "Oliver's Travels: The Making of a Chinese-American Radical".

It covers the failed marriage of my Chinese father and German mother; my childhood in China, Germany, Mauritius, Iran, and America; myeducation at Harvard, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Chicago; my teaching career at the University of Hawaii; my early opposition to the U.S. war in Vietnam (as early as 1964); the University's consequent punishment by firing me in 1968; and mytwo-year successful fight to compel the Board of Regents to reinstate me.

The book is available from Amazon for $24.95.  A preview of the front and back covers with the Amazon page are shown below.  The covers, table of contents and selected sections can also be viewed on the Amazon website using link, Oliver’s Travels and clicking the LOOK INSIDE tab on the right top edge of the cover when the Amazon page opens.

I believe that you would enjoy reading the book, and would feel proud of knowing me as a fellow member of our Association.

   Aloha.       Oliver
