Leadership Position Description

TROOP QUARTERMASTER

GENERAL INFORMATION

Reports to: Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and Adult Quartermaster

Description: The Troop Quartermaster works with the adult Quartermaster to keep track of Troop equipment and ensure that it is in good working order.

QUALIFICATIONS

Rank:

  • Tenderfoot or higher

Experience:

  • None

Attendance:

  • 50% over previous 6 months

Training:

  • None

EXPECTATIONS

Attendance:

  • Attend 75% of the weekly meetings and 50% of the camp-outs or outings. This is 3 meetings per month and 3 camp-outs/outings in six months.

  • Be on time to troop meetings, events and activities.

Effort:

  • You are expected to give this job your best effort.

Behavior:

  • You should have fun in this job but also remember that you are an example to the rest of the scouts. Act in accordance to the Scout Oath and Law. Show Scout Spirit in everything you say and do.

Uniform:

    • Uniform must be worn correctly. This means that you will wear all of the parts of the Troop uniform. Shirt tail tucked in, with all required badges in their correct locations.

    • Set the example to other scouts for proper uniform appearance.

SPECIFIC LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Issues equipment before camp-outs and makes sure it is returned clean and in good condition.

  • Serve as a member of the Troop Leaders Council (TLC)

  • The Log Book must include an accurate inventory of equipment, equipment withdrawal and return information from outing to outing and detailed descriptions of improvement project.

  • Coordinate transfer of the Troop equipment from the previous Quartermaster.

  • Work with Patrol Quartermasters or Patrol Leaders to make sure Patrol boxes are adequately equipped.

  • Bring the US and Troop flags to meetings and ceremonies and returns them to the Troop storage.

  • Perform at least one major improvement of the equipment.

  • You must tell the ASPL if you are not going to be at a meeting or outing. If you miss a meeting, call the ASPL to find out what you missed.

Feedback

  • Credit for this role is the delivery of a LOG BOOK of Troop equipment activity to the ASPL at the end of your 6 month term. Scoutmaster decides on credit.

  • The Assistant Senior Patrol Leader will meet with you occasionally to give you feedback on your performance.
