Canoe Weeklong 50+ Miler
Overview
Week-long trip down the Sacramento River. Scout and Leaders will carry all of their supplies down river in a canoe for the week.
Sunday-Saturday, July 30 - August 5th. Similar route as June 2021 (80 miles/4 days), longer than in July 2018 (68 miles/5 days)

Scout Cost = $200
Adult Cost = $200
Fees cover: Canoes, Life Jackets, Paddles, Canoe Trailer for transportation, Campsite fees, Troop 14 Canoe Trip Souvenir (hat or shirt or TBD), Last Night Pizza Dinner.
Individuals need to provide: all personal gear, patrol gear, patrol food (Sunday lunch - Saturday Breakfast, except Friday Dinner).
Maximum number of Scouts and Adults = 20 people in 10 canoes.
Troop 14 believes that all Scouts are entitled to the same outdoor experience, if you are facing a financial hardship, the Troop maintains a camper-ship fund and can help with expenses. For more information, please see discuss with Scoutmaster or Committee Chairperson in private.
Detailed Schedule
Prep (due JUNE 1st)
Turn in ABC Medical forms (2 copies)
Adults complete training
Adults finalize transportation
Meal plan finalized
Full payment due to secure canoes
Pack Check (DUE Monday, July 24th)
Option1: Take photo of your supplies and email to Toby. Supplies could be packed or setup on the floor. We need to make sure you have everything ready to go in advance. (Perishable food can be purchased later in the week.)
Option2: Bring gear to Troop Meeting for inspection.

Day 1 (Sat, 6/12)
8:30 AM - Meet at St Justin Parking Lot. Depart ASAP (before 9AM)
11:30-1PM - Lunch in Willows, CA
3PM Arrive Redding Rodeo Grounds.
Unload Canoes, Setup Camp, explore area (Sundial Bridge, hike river bank trails, etc)
Two adults (YPT) stay with scouts while others shuttle cars to Woodson Bridge (2 hours round trip)
Day 2 (Sun, 6/13)
Paddle from Redding Rodeo Grounds to Sacramento River RV Park (13 miles)
Pool, ultimate frisbee, fish, other?
Day 3 (Mon, 6/14)
Paddle Sacramento River RV Park to Massacre Flat primitive river campsite. (22 miles)
No potable water - must bring on drinking water!
Day 4 (Tues, 6/15)
Paddle Massacre Flat to Sycamore Grove (21 miles)
Possible Service Project at Sycamore Grove.
Day 5 (Wed, 6/16)
Paddle Sycamore Grove to Woodson Bridge State Recreation Area (25 miles)
Possible Service Project at Woodson Bridge in afternoon
Two adults (YPT) stay with scouts while others shuttle remaining cars to Woodson Bridge (2 hours)
Shower! (Bring quarters and soap for showers!)
Pizza Party (dine-in or carry-out pending Covid policy in Corning, CA.)
Day 6 (Thurs, 6/17)
Possible Service Project at Woodson Bridge in the morning
Load gear and secure canoes on trailer
Depart Woodson Bridge
Return canoes to Livermore
Arrive Santa Clara mid-afternoon.
