The Board of Review is the final step to complete a Scouts BSA Rank.

Once a Scout has completed the rank requirements including a Scoutmaster conference, they can request a Board of Review in Troop Kit. The review are typically held on the 3rd Monday of the month, but can be scheduled as needed.

The Board is made up of 3-6 members of the Troop Committee, typically Advancement Chairperson and a few others. Unit leaders (Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster), parents, or relatives may not serve on the Board.

Class-A Uniform:

  • Clean BSA uniform shirt, BSA pants/shorts. BSA belt, BSA socks, and Troop neckerchief

  • All patches current including Rank, Position, Patrol, etc. Be prepared to talk about what is on your uniform.

  • Merit Badge Sash or Order for the Arrow Sash. Be prepared to talk about merit badges earned.

Be prepared to recite from memory and explain in your own words:

  • Scout Oath

  • Scout Law

  • Outdoor Code

Bring Scout Handbook with updated Camping and Service Logs.

Bring Eagle Binder - An Eagle binder is a binder where you collect and organize all your important scouting items for your eventual Eagle board of review. This includes:

  • Rank Advancement Cards and Blue Cards (use 3x3 transparent baseball card holders)

  • Merit Badge worksheets

  • Certificates of Leadership Positions (which starts with 1st class rank)

  • other certificates like training, etc.

    • pictures and newsletters

    • ALL Eagle project related items (plans, maps, meeting notes, finances, etc)

In general, be prepared to talk about recent Scouting requirements and experiences, and plans for future (Scouting and otherwise).
