Canoe Flat Water Training
Training Day #1
Shadow Cliffs Regional Recreation Area - 2500 Stanley Blvd, Pleasanton, CA 94566
https://www.ebparks.org/parks/shadow_cliffs/ ($6 parking fee)
Saturday, April 3rd, 2021
Due to covid, each family needs to coordinate their own transportation to and from this event. Families are welcome to carpool together if they are comfortable with that. Shadow cliffs is a nice recreational park with lots of trails. Rather than dropoff/pickup, the family could stay the day and enjoy the park while the scouts practice their canoe skills. Hopefully we will be able to carpool for the overnighter and weeklong trip.

Scouts working on Canoeing Merit Badge should bring:
1) Blue Card signed by Scoutmaster (leave in car with dry clothes!)
2) Printed copy of Canoeing Merit Badge Worksheet: http://usscouts.org/mb/worksheets/Canoeing.pdf
It is a good idea to start using the workbook as it can be a reference. The primary focus of this trip is actual time in the canoe so not all requirements may be completed. Incomplete requirements should be completed by the Scout at home and reviewed with Merit Badge Counselor.
Here is a map of the lake and approximate route of travel.
