After these events Achilles reconciled with Agamemnon, who returned Briseis untouched, along with many other gifts. The god Hephaestus prepared a new armour for Achilles’ upcoming battles at the request of Thetis.
At that point, Zeus set the rest of the gods free to participate in the war as they pleased. Thus, Hera, Athena, Poseidon, Hermes and Hephaestus hastened to the side of the Achaeans, while Ares, Artemis, Apollo, Aphrodite and Leto ran to support the Trojans.
With his entry into the battle, Achilles started killing Trojans one after another. He almost murdered Aeneas, who was saved by Poseidon, as he was loved by the gods.
