VHA Committee Meeting at 2019 TRB Annual Meeting

Post date: Dec 22, 2018 7:49 PM

Dear Members and Friends of the TRB Vehicle-Highway Automation Committee:

Now that the TRB Annual Meeting is only three weeks away, the program details are largely settled and the agendas are in good shape for our Committee and subcommittee meetings. Vehicle-highway automation will be a hot topic across much of the Annual Meeting, including activities beyond those organized by our Committee. TRB has put together a table summarizing all the sessions on vehicle automation topics, which I have attached here, and there will also be a special exhibit area with demonstration vehicles. Our committee meeting will be Tuesday afternoon, January 15, and as you can see from the attached agenda we will have a lot to discuss and to learn about, including presentations about a wide variety of the latest developments related to vehicle-highway automation.

The CORVA Subcommittee meeting on Thursday morning, January 17, will be the key milestone in kicking off the planning for breakout sessions for next summer’s Automated Vehicles Symposium 2019. Valerie Shuman, who is replacing Bob Denaro as the CORVA Chair, will be distributing the agenda for that meeting soon. It will start off with several interesting presentations before we get into the serious discussions about topics for AVS19 breakouts. Please bring your ideas for breakout sessions to that discussion, and if you are not able to stay at TRB until Thursday we will also have an opportunity to discuss breakout topics during our Tuesday afternoon meeting (or you can e-mail topic ideas in advance).

Finally, I have attached announcements for a couple of upcoming conferences for those who may be interested in presenting papers or attending those conferences.

Best wishes for a happy holiday season and looking forward to seeing you at the TRB Annual Meeting.

Best regards,

Steve Shladover

Chair, Vehicle-Highway Automation Committee (AHB30)
