The Federal Railroad Administration is continuing its 2018 Rail Program Delivery Webinar Series with a webinar on Environmental Review on Thursday, July 26. The purpose of this webinar is to provide comprehensive information for project sponsors and staff on various components of the environmental review process. FRA's goal is to improve projects by making the environmental review requirements easier to understand and comply with.

Every potential rail project sponsor will prepare environmental documentation to comply with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) prior to project implementation. FRA’s Environmental & Corridor Planning Division (RPD-13) provides guidance, interpretation of federal regulations and agency policies for NEPA and other related environmental laws for FRA projects. RPD-13 also assist project sponsors with the development of environmental documents such as environmental assessments (EA), environmental impact statements (EIS), findings of no significant impact (FONSIs), and other NEPA-related documentation where the proposed project’s environmental impacts are identified and discussed.
