Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) Instructor Development Course
Overview
This week-long school will certify the student to teach the NHTSA Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) curriculum. This school will prepare law enforcement professionals to effectively administer and instruct in the SFST training program. The importance of adult learning principles, motivational techniques, effective questioning techniques and the development and use of training aids are some of the topics that will be presented.
Topics include:
Basic instructor techniques
Practice teaching
Overview of the SFST curriculum
Principles of public speaking
Guidelines for conducting alcohol workshops
Four-step teaching/learning process
Prerequisite: Officers requesting to attend this program MUST have successfully completed Standardized Field Sobriety Test training and have one year of experience conducting the SFST battery.
Attire, Costs and Other Requirements
Students must bring a 3-inch binder, note taking materials and a hi-liter.
Dress is professional casual or uniform of the day.
