Flip-up camping kitchen; why use up a third of the living area for cooking when it's only used for an hour a day?

We've successfully trialed several bed options - all designed for comfort rather than raw efficiency and to avoid putting a load on folded seat backs. We prefer a sprung bed base beneath the mattress; options include fold-out sprung slats stored behind the rearmost seats.
