It is my belief that the whole world is a classroom. The work our students do in school should be engaging and inspire students to carry on the learning outside of the classroom. They should naturally want to TAKE ACTION! This might not look like typical homework. It should include a degree of choice and should be relevant to their lives. To this end, students should be prepared to extend their learning through projects, reflection and application of skills and concepts and to share the ways they TAKE ACTION with the teacher and class on a regular basis.
In the event that a student is having difficulty completing assignments in class, I will meet with the student to determine the reasons for the lack of self-management and we will strive provide solutions collaboratively.
You will find suggestions for extending learning posted here. For more information about the homework debate click on Useful Links.
