Students will choose their own spelling words based on their reading, writing, and the content areas.
Mondays they will take their spelling test after which, they will choose their new list. They will submit this list to the teacher. Students may use their own resources as well as resources on this web page to choose words. The teacher will review the list for appropriate challenge and adjust as necessary.
Wednesdays students will receive their word lists and work with their words, categorizing them into parts of speech. They will determine the meanings of the words and how the words are used in text.
Fridays students will continue to explore origins of their words as well as ways to use them.
AAA Spell — This site has a cool feature. It gives you spelling tests! Check out your skill level. You might find some words you need to learn.
Spelling/Vocabulary Lessons — This site offers grade level spelling lists pronunciation and word usage and much much more!
Spelling City — Word lists and activities to develop spelling and vocabulary.
Spelling Words Well — This link provides spelling lists for grade levels as well as games and activities.
