Now, I am no Betjeman but I occasionally have an attack of inspiration and spew out a poem, sometimes in response to an event. Here are some odes.
Virgin Atlantic
On the slow train to Preston
Some people have their Sunday best on
I am listening to Robert Peston
I need a pillow to rest my head on.
Soon we will be at Wigan North West
Where many people wear vests
I am sure it will be a test
To avoid the local pie fest.
All on board are holding a digital device Texting,
tweeting or playing dice
A little conversation would be nice
But just a gentle nod will suffice.
The rain is coming down in rods
A message sent from the gods
The conductor bows and scrapes and nods
He is waitng the invasion of the mods.
Thanks to Lib
I'm so happy that you replied in rhyme
The great pleasure and the joy is all mine
The cost of post and packing was not dear
I think fair recompense will be a beer!

I Just Can't Think
The ink in my pen runs permanent blue
The paper is large but the words are few
Ideas are easy but product is rare
My future lies in reason not the iambic pentameter.
