LOPRUTS

LOPRUTS is an acronym for Length of potato root under the sink.

THIS WAS ON MY OLD SITE, i COULDN'T LEAVE IT OUT!

This came about when I opened the cupboard under the sink and found a potato that had grown a root about 16 inches (35cm) long. What I didn't know was how long it had been there. I suggested to my widely spread family that perhaps we could all try and grow a root under the sink and see what ensued.

I have travelled South on a number of occasions in the last few months to inspect growth and have been pleasantly surprised. In a few weeks I shall have photographs of all the contenders.

There is no doubt that this idea created much competition amongst my nieces and nephews and even 10 years later there are reappearances.

The above series of LOPRUTS were taken between late May and mid July when the roots grew from  6 to 47 cm!

June 2018. I thought I would try again. Here is the result, 66cm so far!
