Native plants are species that have been brought into our environment from other countries. Many of these plant species were brought to our region because they are beautiful and hearty for growing in gardens and landscapes. Unfortunately, some are so hearty that they out-compete many of our native plant species. Although beautiful, in many cases these invasive species do not provide the resources (food and shelter) for our native animals that our native species do.
