Joseph Benoit MALAQUIN

Joseph would seem to have had a varied education. He studied at colleges in England then started down the road to priesthood, when this did not enthrall him he joined the navy learning navigation. He first landed on Australian turf in about 1883.

It was while he was in the Navy that he met his wife to be Eugenie KNOLL in Noumea.(Eugenie was of French descent.)

They were married in Sydney, NSW, Australia in 1897.

Joseph and Eugenie had at least nine children including two sets of twins.

Joseph seems to have had a variety of occupations including carpenter, pastry cook, laundry proprietor as well as his earlier trainings.
